It is not an emergency, and the vehicle will continue to operate, but the oil should be replaced as soon as convenient.

The code 83 message comes on between oil changes every 7,500 miles to remind the owner to get the oil changed.

If you recently had the oil changed, the service attendant likely forgot to reset the message.

The vehicle can not tell if the oil is good or bad but uses mileage as a good guess.

The oil should be changed and the light reset, which will come on again after another 7500 miles.

  1. On the right side of the dashboard, press the Menu button

  5. Press and hold down the Set & Clear button until it reaches 100%
