How To Replace Front Toyota Corolla Brake Pads (2010-2019)

They are not difficult to replace but if in doubt be sure to call a professional.

Note: This job fits the 2010-2019 Corolla sedan. The 2019 Corolla Hatchback uses different front pads.

Items Needed To Replace Front Toyota Corolla Brake Pads

• 14mm Socket and Ratchet
• C-Clamp
• Screw Driver
• New Brake Pads

A 14mm socket and ratchet or wrench will be needed to remove two bolts.

The caliper also needs to be squeezed together with using a C-Clamp a common method.

New brake pads will also be needed which can be bought at an auto parts store or online.

Common front pad set is FMSI D1210. OEM is 04465-02240 for 2010-2013 and 04465-02410 for 2014-2019 North American built sedans.

Note: Install any new anti-rattle clips or hardware that come with the pad set.

How To Replace Front Toyota Corolla Brake Pads (2010-2019)

1. Jack the car up and make sure it is secure.

Note: Use jack stands under the pinch welds or subframe. Never work under a car held only by a jack.

2. Remove the tire.
3. Remove the two 14mm bolts attached to the caliper.



4. Pull the caliper out and let it hang to the side.

Note: Support the caliper with a wire or hook. Do not let it hang by the brake hose.



5. Remove the brake pads one at a time an insert the new ones.



6. There is two brake pads on each wheel.



Note: Open the brake fluid reservoir before compressing the piston. Remove some fluid if the level is near full so it does not overflow.

7. Using a C-Clamp squeeze the caliper piston back into place even with the caliper.



8. Re-attache the caliper over the brake pads.



9. Screw the two bolts back into place.

Note: Torque the 14mm caliper guide pin bolts to 25 ft-lbs. Torque the lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern after the car is on the ground.



10. Test the brakes which should now be replaced and working.

Note: Pump the brake pedal until it is firm before driving. Bed the new pads with several moderate stops from about 40 mph.
