If you have a Chevy Trailblazer with a P0014 OBDII error code, there are several causes and fixes.
A P0014 Code means the onboard computer is seeing low oil pressure.
Below are the most common symptoms, along with causes and fixes.
What is a Chevy Trailblazer P0014 Code?
A P0014 error code is an “Exhaust (B) Camshaft Position System Performance.”
Some scan tools will give an Exhaust (B) Camshaft Position Timing – Over Advanced Bank 1.
The most common cause of a Chevy Trailblazer with a P0014 error code is low oil or bad actuator solenoid.
Other things can also cause problems, but these are by far the most common solution.
Chevy Trailblazer Code P0014 Symptoms
- Idles Rough
- Check Engine Light On
- Oil Maintenance Light On
A P0014 can give varying symptoms but usually will run rough or stall when cold.
Also, the engine light and oil maintenance light will usually come on.
Causes and Fixes P0014 Chevy Trailblazer
- Low Oil
- Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid
The first thing to check is the oil level since a P0014 error code can be caused by little to no oil in the engine.
Often the dipstick will show no oil or very little, but it may be at a good level, so be sure to check it twice.
If the engine oil is low and adding oil solves the problem, it would be a good idea to have the oil changed.
Keep in mind when the engine is low on oil, damage may have been caused depending on how low it was.
A bad or dirty Camshaft Position Solenoid is a common problem with the Chevy Trailblazer.
When it becomes dirty or plugged up, it causes problems, including the P0014 error code.
The unit has screens that get dirty and clogged, which will cause an issue.
The Solenoid is located behind the power steering pump, which will need to be removed to get to it.
The Solenoid can be bought at an auto part store or online on Amazon or eBay.

A P0014 OBDII trouble code given by an OBDII code reader on a Chevy Trailblazer is usually caused by low oil or Actuator Solenoid.
This is often an easy fix, as long as other damage has not been caused, and the fix is usually to replace the camshaft position solenoid.
If the oil level has dropped too low, the engine can become damaged and cause many issues.
If the oil level is good, the solenoid should be checked next and is a common failure.
The solenoid has small filter screens that can become clogged up, stopping the flow of oil.
Changing the oil is also usually a good idea as old oil can cause issues.
Some mechanics clean the solenoid and insert it back in, which I would not recommend since they are low-cost, and another component on the solenoid may have failed.

Your displaying the Variable Valve Timing Sensor, not the Camshaft Positioning Sensor. What did I Miss???
he has stated the solenoid, not cam position.. which the variable solenoid is what usually goes bad, what you missed is what hes talking about entirely
